I have a 15' i7 MBP and am facing the same issue with two cards - the SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB and the Extreme HD Video 16GB. This is nothing short of a huge FAIL on Apple's part. I am really disappointed. I just upgraded my camera gear to have SD-cards with me, but now I can still continue carrying the external card-reader. This is painful. Some users connect SD cards directly to the SD slot (if any) on their MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. And some access it through an external SD card reader. But either way, the SD card should be detected by the computer and then appear in Finder, on desktop, and in Disk Utility.

Hi, everyone!
Last week, I upgraded the hard drive on my MBP (Oct 2010), after it became clear the one inside it was in the process of failing. I formatted the hard drive, installed the OS, and migrated some things over from Time Machine without incident.
Now, my MacBook won't read my camera's SD card. The card is formatted for Macs, and I had no problem using it before the new hard drive was installed. In August, I had also reformatted the MacBook, and used the SD card reader after that with no problems. Is there a driver I'm missing, or some option I forgot to check somewhere? The SD card does work in other machines, the MacBook just isn't reading it. It's not popping up in Finder or anything.
Any ideas?

#1 Using MicroSD to SDXC adapter
Sims 4 adult cc. The MicroSD manufacturer has many times released its product with additional SDXC/SDHC (sometimes called Mini SD) adapter. This device would allow you to link your MicroSD card to any device with an SDXC port on it.
Luckily, some older MacBook Pro has an SDXC port already. You can find it on the left side of the device. The port should be sized as 24 mm wide and a few millimeters in diameter. Once it connected, the MacBook will recognize it as a new device and you can start using it like USB flash drive anyway.
In case you don’t have an SDXC adapter, it was priced as low as $3 on Amazon Ltd gamefarm price list. and works smoothly with all MicroSD brands and performance specifications.
#2 If your MacBook Pro has no SDXC port, but a USB port: use card reader
In recent years, Apple has stepped forward to eliminate SDXC, leaving its customers with no port to plug in their SD card to the laptop. However, as long as the USB port is still available, there is a decent chance to connect your Micro SD.

The price of this product may vary, but I’m not advising you to buy the cheapest one since it tends to be not durable and sometimes not working properly during intensive usage, like transferring files.
One of the most reliable card reader adapters is from Vanja which costs about $8. Customers also say the product is good enough for its price. But, you don’t need to focus on my recommendation. There are many similar products with various brands offering competitive costs while maintaining supreme quality.
#3 MacBook Pro with only USB-C port
Apple also released a new kind of MacBook Pro which only comes with merely one single USB-C port, not a standard USB-A. The solution is pretty much the same as the last one; you have to buy a card reader, but with a USB-C connector.
